Comprehensive Exams
An eye exam is recommended annually to evaluate vision, identify refractive errors, assess eye health, and detect any potential eye diseases or conditions. Your eyes can change over time due to many different factors such as aging, hormones, work-related tasks, medications etc.
Based on your visual and ocular needs, the optometrist may perform any of the following tests:
Visual acuity test
Refraction
Digital Retinal Imaging
Binocular vision assessment
Intraocular pressure test
Visual field testing
Color vision
Dry Eye
It is estimated that 30% of Canadians experience dry eyes. Dry eyes can result from inadequate production of tears or poor quality tear secretion. When the quantity or quality of tears is insufficient, it can lead to discomfort, irritation, and potential damage to the surface of the eye Symptoms can affect everyday tasks such as reading, working, and driving making it feel impossible. We offer individualized therapy for the different types and causes of dry eye.
Diabetic Eye Exams
Diabetes can affect the eyes in various ways, potentially leading to serious and vision-threatening conditions. Regular eye exams can detect early signs of diabetic retinopathy, diabetic signs in the eye. Diabetic retinopathy is a leading cause of blindness among adults. It occurs when high blood sugar levels damage the blood vessels in the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. Diabetic eye exams can detect retinopathy in its early stages, allowing for timely intervention to prevent vision loss. As your optometrist, we co-manage with your family doctor to ensure your diabetes is well monitored and not causing ocular complications.
